Diana or tmux: running coding agents
tmux and a regular terminal run agents fine. They do not know what the agents are doing. Diana is also a terminal, but it records what each agent did, shows which ones need you, and can hold a command before it runs.
| A terminal with tmux | Diana | |
|---|---|---|
| Run several agents | Yes, in panes or windows | Yes, in tabs, each in its own worktree |
| Which one needs me? | Look at each pane | Tasks marks them; Waiting lists them |
| What did it change? | git diff, per folder | Beside the terminal, changed lines marked |
| What did it run, and what did it cost? | Scrollback, until it is gone | A local record, every command and dollar |
Stop rm -rf before it runs | No | Rules: ask or deny |
| Did it really run the tests? | Read the scrollback | Checked against the record |
| Works over SSH, no window | Yes | The window is local; the command line works anywhere |
| Price | Free | Free |
When tmux is enough
One agent at a time, on a remote box, and you read everything it does as it does it.
When Diana helps
Several agents at once, work you come back to later, and commands you want to see before they run. You can keep using tmux inside Diana's terminal.
Questions
Can I use tmux inside Diana?
Yes. Diana's terminal is a real terminal; tmux runs in it like anywhere else.
Does Diana replace my terminal?
It can. It is a full terminal with tabs, and it adds the agent views on top.
